Happy Earth Day on 4/22 -Let’s Celebrate!
Hello Friends, Fam, Fans and Earth Lovers,
I’m sending you amazing springtime vibes from beautiful Moab, Utah today.
I have two upcoming concerts that I hope you can check out in person, live stream or on the radio waves.
Our national parks and monuments are so special for me and it’s such an honor to play in them. I’m excited to have performance this June 20-21st at Devils Tower National Monument, Wyoming at 1pm live at the pavilion at the base of the tower. This is my 7th year performing here.
I am the featured artist, on the Hootenanny Cafe mini concert with Jon Stein, April 20th, 2025 in the Hudson Valley on Sunday at 9pm ET https://www.wtbq.com Every Thurs and Friday at 10pm ET at https://www.bellbuckleradio.com
Why do our national parks matter?
In light of the current situation our national parks and public lands are in right now, I feel like we all just need to remember what we love about our parks and why they are worth fighting for. Firstly, they brings us together as a nation. My music became an anchor for me in 2016 and it truly shares a message of unity when I sing to diverse audiences in the parks.
Over the years I’ve been writing songs, performing in the national parks and on Amtrak long distance trains. I advocate for our public lands, national monuments and national parks.
Since Earth Day is just around the corner on April 22nd, I am going to do all that I can to help bring awareness to our beautiful wild places in America and globally. The music I’ve written and performed for the last 10 years is my heart song for these irreplaceable wild swaths of beauty.
This is an emergency
Recently, I was shocked and dismayed to find out that over 1000 employees from the National Park Service had been fired without reason. This has been called the Valentine’s Day Massacre. https://insideclimatenews.org/news/21032025/todays-climate-fired-national-parks-workers-reinstated/#:~:text=On%20Feb.,the%20%E2%80%9CValentine’s%20Day%20Massacre.%E2%80%9D
Because of this cut, there will be a grave impact on the quality of life for all of the animals that live in the parks. The experience of the visitors will also be much more stressful. I know this fist hand. I have visited over 40 parks and have seen the massive amounts of visitors, the trash, and the destruction that humans wreak upon the landscape, even when there are plenty of rangers and staff. I can tell you right now, this is an emergency.
Share some national parks songs with your friends
I suggest In the Grand, Shenandoah and Yellowstone Wind to share on a playlist. https://open.spotify.com/album/3Y8Fu6cRxtd1iFYIlr9tYt?si=wxkCKkqPThC3zSW7urZWhQ
Let yourself feel inspired to share a few of my songs to honor Earth Day. Add your own message and experience to your posts. Let friends know how you feel in our national parks and monuments.
My goal is to raise awareness and inspire listeners to take action as well. What’s yours?
This year lets do all we can; volunteer, donate, visit and tread lightly. Spread the word that our parks are in danger. Our National Parks and the employees who serve the people and critters that live in these wilderness lands are being compromised. This hurts all Americans and our international visitors as well.
Thank you for all you do! It’s a grassroots movement of music, songs and awareness that helps fuel the passion of our fellow citizens. Keep that fire alive for what you love and get out there and see the beauty.
Love,
Gigi
